GIS
ArcGIS Online
This interactive online map displays locations and attributes of climbing spots in Boone and surrounding areas.
Climbing is often unattainable for many and site locations are typically kept in secrecy in order to protect those areas. Please use this information with respect to local environments and climb with caution.

The online story map below is about Innsbruck, Austria, and was created with activities for outdoor enthusiasts in mind. I traveled to Innsbruck in 2018 and included some of my own photos. Scroll down on the image to view the entire story.
ArcGIS Pro
Hill shade & Elevation Map
Creating this map required resolving errors in raster digital elevation model data. Resampling and calculations were run to achieve the final result.
Raster Spatial Analysis
Creating this map involved estimating costs for points on a landscape based on slope and distance to roads. Then, a threshold was applied to determine the final cost for road building.
Raster Surfaces, Profiles, and Viewsheds
To create this map, multiple raster digital elevation models were combined. Visibility from a point was determined and a graph/profile was generated for road elevation.
Watershed Functions
Several hydrological tools were employed to create this map. The final result shows the watershed from a determined outlet point.
Attribute Table Operations
This map involved calculating and assigning values in the attribute table to produce different classifications of wetlands.
Geocoding
Creating this map involved linking addresses with reference data.
assessing burn scars with satellite imagery
This map was created using Remote Sensing and GIS techniques. I used different band combinations to visualize and enhance the satellite imagery, digitized the areas with burn scars, and created a map showcasing this information.
Buffering and Overlay
These maps were created while performing a site suitability analysis for campground sites. Several geoprocessing tools and written functions were used in this process.

Cartography
Final Project for Cartography
This map was created with Adobe Illustrator using U.S. Census and American Community Survey data.
I chose this subject because of the current rent cost situation in Watauga County with the rise in the student population. This map shows the relationship between household income and rent costs. Watauga County has one of the highest disproportionate ratios between the two variables.
Scaled Flowline Map
This map was created using Adobe Illustrator and U.S. Census data. It demonstrates my capability to use ratio scaling and design a visually appealing map.
Graduated Circles
This map was created using Adobe Illustrator with data from Statista. It demonstrates my capability to scale elements using formulas.
Dot Density Map
This map was created using Adobe Illustrator with data from the U.S. Census Bureau, West Virginia county information, and locations of coal mine sites.
These dots were calculated and each one was placed individually with respect to city location and coal mine sites. It demonstrates my attention to detail and desire for the highest accuracy.
Basic Choropleth Map
This was one of the first maps I ever created. I used Adobe Illustrator, Census data, and data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (eia) to create this map representing GHG emissions in the U.S.
I immediately understood the importance of design in mapmaking with the proper placement of elements and filling of whitespace.
Geography
Anthropogenic Climate Change & Misinformation
Climate change and environmental conservation have been my core interests in the field of Geography throughout my time in school. I am very interested in the reasons why climate action isn't occurring at the necessary scale and changing the narrative, understanding, and education behind the subject.
This paper outlines the role that misinformation plays in belief and my general knowledge on the subject of anthropogenic climate change.

What Geography Means to Me
I wrote this paper early in my education at Appalachian State. It describes what Geography means to me and how I would love to connect my passion for outdoor recreation to climate change and environmental conservation.
